About Mark Elder

In the early 70’s just out of high school, 17 year old Mark followed his dream of playing bass guitar and joined what would become one of the Seattle’s premier bands, Mark worked with Ann and Nancy Wilson from Heart on one of his original songs It’s Time Again. His band opened for acts like The Oak Ridge Boys, Elvin Bishop, Commander Cody, Dan Hicks and His Hot Licks and Jim Stafford. After years of musical success, Mark left Seattle to raise his sons in the Midwest, landing in NW Ohio. During that time, Mark got one of his Christmas songs, One Little Star recorded by Crystal Gayle. His boys raised, Mark refocused his energies on songwriting, recording and performing and as a result has produced several solo albums. Mark owns his own state of the art recording studio, Oldgyz Productions and has been performing with several musicians and bands around the greater Toledo, Ohio area.

The latest release from Mark Elder, ‘Walking Each Other Home’ really shows off not only Mark’s songwriting skills but also his abilities as a recording  artist and an audio engineer, and is a wonderful mix of Classic Rock, Pop and Country. It features musicians not just from the Toledo area where Mark lives, but the Pacific Northwest and Germany as well. Six of the ten songs were co-written by lyricist William Sohnly of Toledo, Ohio while the remaining four were written solely by Mark. This project has taken a year and a half to complete and is considered to be Mark Elder’s finest work to date.
